Reuven Emergency Fund
On July 29th, Shlomo Reuven, a 30 year old Israeli and close relative to several of our community members, was involved in a devastating car accident while traveling in Germany. The car exploded while he was inside. Miraculously, he survived, but not without sustaining life-threatening injuries. The flames engulfed the entire vehicle, causing severe burns over his entire body, both internally and externally with the most severe burns to his face and right arm. His lungs and other internal organs were damaged by the heat, and he also suffered two broken vertebrae from the impact.
Shlomo was airlifted to a specialized burn trauma hospital in Berlin, where he has been receiving critical care. Since the accident, he has already undergone four surgeries, with more required to keep him alive and recover. After consulting with Eli Beer from United Hatzalah, it was clear that it’s impossible to air Shlomo in his current condition back to Israel.
The family now faces the daunting challenge of covering the mounting medical expenses. Navigating the complex legal landscape in a foreign country, they have discovered that there is no insurance coverage for these extensive medical costs. The hospital is requesting €100,000 ($111K USD) by August 30th to continue the extraordinary care that is essential to keep Shlomo alive. Additionally, we anticipate further costs as his treatment continues.
This is a life-and-death situation, and the family urgently needs your help. Every dollar you contribute will go directly to the hospital through the Bnei Yitzhak Hesed Fund and is tax deductible. Please consider donating to help cover these critical medical bills and support Shlomo on his road to recovery. Details on how you can help are provided below.
